Week 11 Listening Blog Post
LADY
by Kenny Rogers
I critically listened to this song three times. I really enjoy listening to Kenny Roger's voice. It has a raspy, yet strong sound to it. I like the riff in the beginning with the piano and some string instrument that sounds like a harp maybe. This riff is played throughout the whole song. I like how the verses are a minor sound but the chorus picks up the major chords. One of my favorite parts is the strings and orchestra in the chorus! I also like when the beat picks up in the chorus and Rogers starts belting. The form of this song is AABA. The lyrics of this song are sentimental, it is a love song. The song was written by Lionel Richie, and the lyrics talk about how this lady's love is the only love he needs. Talking about how she brings him up when he is down and how she brings him hope and aspiration. "You're the love of my life, you're my lady." Very cute worded song. This song is under the country genre, but it doesn't totally sound like country to me. Kenny Rogers is a famous country singer but this song sounds like a soft hip pop with the orchestra and it is a really beautiful song. I love the end when the piano does a little solo fade. Overall really enjoyed this song!
I also enjoyed listening to this song and I think that Kenny Rogers has a great voice. The meaning of this song is very sentimental and is a love song like you mentioned. It is really sweet to listen to Rogers sing about how much he loves this women and all the wonderful things she does for him and how she makes him feel.
ReplyDeleteI love this song so much, but I love anything by Kenny Rogers! His voice is so unique I love it so much. The raspy undertone is my favorite part about his voice as well! I love how the song starts out with a piano as well. He is very respectful about women in this song and that is what I love about it! Great job on this post.
ReplyDeleteWhen an artist like Kenny Rogers focuses on using what he's got, it is something truly great. He has a great and raspy voice, and when you don't try to hide the natural you, you become a lot more genuine. And we need more artists that are genuine and themselves.
