HERE YOU COME AGAIN

by Dolly Parton

I critically listened to this song three times. I really enjoyed listening to this song! Dolly Parton has a very powerful, yet soothing voice. "Here You Come Again" was Parton's crossover hit from country music to pop. It topped the country charts and reached #3 on the pop charts. This song includes the piano and the bass. As well as a steel guitar because Dolly wanted to keep the country sound still somehow. I enjoyed the riff in the beginning of the song with the piano and guitar that repeats itself throughout the whole song. This song has an AABA form with a bridge, a solo from the guitar and orchestra. My favorite part of the song is the key change at minute 1:43. It sounds so good! This song keeps a steady tempo throughout the song, not a whole lot of syncopation. The lyrics of this song seem to be about a creepy ex boyfriend of Parton's that won't leave her alone. But her delivery of the song turns it into an anthem of everlasting love..."here you come again, looking better than anybody has the right to." I like how the end of the song fades out. Overall, this is a fun song and it puts a smile on your face.

  1. As a fan of country music, I really like Dolly Parton's music and I really enjoy her song "Here You Come Again." It is really cool how this song was successful on both the country charts and the pop charts and she was able to create a successful crossover. The lyrics of this song are great and it is no wonder why this song became a hit.

  2. As not a very massive fan of country I can say that it did a wonderful job of a pop and country cross over. Her voice has remained to be amazing even at her age, I really love this song actually and this song just makes me want to tap my feet!
